Introduction;

The Australasian College of Paramedic Practitioners (ACPP) offers a range of membership levels (Affiliate, Member, General Member, Associate Fellow, Fellow, Docere) each with different criteria.  Members are admitted at the discretion of the Board of Directors (Clause 4,4.3 4.4 of the Constitution) after recommendations of the Membership Committee.

People who are eligible to be admitted as members of the ACPP comply with the following;

  1. supports the objects of the ACPP;
  2. satisfies the relevant criteria;
  3. lodges an e-application form
  4. pays the fees

Summary of Membership Criteria

  1. Affliate Member: Open to all who have an interest in advancing Paramedic Practitioners and promoting Paramedics working in Primary Health Care. This is not open to Registered Paramedics.
  2. Member: Open to all members of the healthcare team, support personnel, techinical staff, overseas Paramedics and registered Paramedics not working or qualified in Community or Primary Healthcare.
  3. General Member: Australian and New Zealand Registered Paramedics only. Completing or completed qualifications (usually Graduate Certificate or higher) and/or working in Community or Primary Healthcare.
  4. Associate Fellow: Australian and New Zealand Registered Paramedics only. Completed qualifications (usually Graduate Diploma, Master or higher) and/or working in Community or Primary Healthcare.
  5. Fellow: Australian and New Zealand Registered Paramedics only. Completed qualifications (Master or higher) in Paramedic Practitioner
  6. Doctere: Awarded by the College in recognition of exceptional services to the Paramedic Practitioner Model.

Membership Criteria

Affiliate Member [AACPP] .

Definition: Affiliate Member is a student of any discipline, nurse, doctor, allied health, health professional or other person with an interest in advancing Paramedic Practitioner model of practice and promting Paramedics in Primary Healthcare.

Voting: has no right to vote in a general meeting as per the constitution

Vigour: No qualifications or completion of examinations is required at this membership level

Annual Subscription Fee: $90 AUD

Multi-discipinary Health Team Membership (Including Registered Paramedic)

Member [MACPP] .

Definition: A Member is a Registered Paramedic, working within the Ambulance Service Sector or private sector without a primary function or qualification.  Other Professionals include an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Health Worker, Medical Doctor, Physician Assistants/Associates, Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Enrolled Nurse, all members of the Allied Health Team and administration support (eg: Medical receptionist), Paramedicine Technical Staff such as EMTs, EMAs, ATAs, PTOs, Ambulance Officers, Medics and other positions in healthcare.  Paramedics not registered in Australia or New Zealand may apply for this level of membership.  In all cases, a member must have an interest in supporting the advancement of a Paramedic Practitioner model of practice and promoting Paramedics practicing in Primary Healthcare.

Voting: has no right to vote in a general meeting as per the constitution

Vigour: Evidence of registration and/or evidence of qualification and/or appointment to the position as per the definition of Member.

Benefits: Will receive newsletters, CPD updates, reduced rates at conferences, participation in selected Committees as determined by the Board, access to insurance (Income Protection etc.) and banking products etc.

Post nominals: MCPP

Annual Subscription Fee: $155 AUD

Registered Paramedic Membership Levels

General Member [GMACPP] .

Definition: 

A General Member is a Registered Paramedic who;

  1. Is completing or completed an ACPP accredited Graduate Certificate [or higher award] or equivalent
  2. Has completed a Graduate Certificate [or higher award] in Post Graduate Paramedicine or equivalent
  3. Have completed a program of study and/or is practicing as an Extended Care Paramedic, Industrial Paramedic, Event Paramedic, Community Paramedic, Primary Care Paramedic or equivalent.
  4. Is working as a Community Paramedic, ECP, Primary Care Paramedic or within a Primary Care Setting.

All Applications must Include (Send to info@acpp.net.au, subject: GMACPP Application): Curriculum Vitae with two Referee's Included. Transcript of Academic or equivalent achievement. In some cases a statement from an employer may be required.

Voting: entitled to one (1) vote in a general meeting as per Clause 5 of the constitution

Benefits:  Will receive newsletters, CPD updates, reduced rates at conferences, participation in selected Committees, scholarships, access to insurance (Income Protection etc.), banking products right to run for election and be nominated for a Board position as per the constitution. Use of GMACPP stamp.

Admission: As per Clause 4 of the constitution

Vigour: Evidence of registration as a paramedic, successful completion of educational program approved by the ACPP or other requirements as requested by the ACPP in the e-application form.

Nomination: None

Post nominals: GMACPP

Annual Subscription Fee: $155 AUD

Associate Fellow [AFACPP] .

Definition: An Associate Fellow is a registered Paramedic who has completed an ACPP accredited Graduate Diploma [or higher level] or equivalent ACPP accredited pathway of study that meets the requirements to practice and be titled Primary Care Paramedic.

Voting: entitled to one (1) vote in a general meeting as per Clause 5 of the constitution

Vigour: Evidence of successful completion of one or more of the following;

Pathway 1: University Graduate Diploma, Master program or equivalent, ACPP accredited. (Streamline)

Pathway 2: University Graduate Diploma, Master program [or higher level] or equivalent which is not accredited by ACPP, however is substantially equivalent to that of an ACPP accredited program.

Pathway 3: University post-graduate Diploma, Master [or higher level] program or equivalent which is not accredited by ACPP, but has similarities to an accredited Primary Care Paramedic Program and the applicant has completed additional Units of an Associate Fellowship which upgrades their studies to that of an accredited ACPP program.

Pathway 4: An Associate Fellowship program conducted and/or accredited by the ACPP

Fellow [FACPP] .

Definition: Fellow is a is a registered Paramedic who has completed an ACPP accredited Master Degree [or higher] or equivalent ACPP accredited pathway of study that meets the requirements to practice and be titled Paramedic Practitioner.

Voting: entitled to one (1) vote in a general meeting as per Clause 5 of the constitution

Vigour: Evidence of successful completion of one or more of the following;

Pathway 1: University Masters Degree [or higher] Paramedic Practitioner program or approved equivalent, ACPP accredited (Streamline).

Pathway 2: University Masters Degree [or higher] or equivalent which is not accredited by ACPP, however is substantially equivalent to that of an ACPP accredited program.(eg: Medicine, Physician Associate/Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Clinical Practice etc.)

Pathway 3: University Masters Degree [or higher] Paramedic Practitioner program or equivalent which is not accredited by ACPP, but has similarities to an accredited Primary Care Paramedic Program and the applicant has completed additional Units of a Fellowship which upgrades their studies to that of an accredited ACPP program

Pathway 4: A Fellowship program conducted and/or accredited by the ACPP

Docere [DACPP] .

(Note: Restricted to Fellows and is only bestow by the Board of Directors)

Definition: The Docere is the most honoured and respected of all members. The Docere is the teacher, philosopher, leader, guide, activist, consultant, advisor and promoter of Paramedic Practitioners. The Docere are a Fellow who have achieved qualifications or experience at a post Fellowship level and/or conducted research or recognised as a teacher/consultant enhancing the Paramedic Practitioner model of practice, health and/or the knowledge of society. A Docere is entitled to be titled a Consultant Paramedic Practitioner.

Voting: entitled to one (1) vote in a general meeting as per Clause 5 of the constitution

Vigour: Evidence of successful completion of one or more of the following;

Pathway 1: University Doctorate award and outstanding service to the paramedic practitioner discipline

Pathway 2: A Docere program conducted or accredited by the ACPP

Pathway 3: Recognised as researcher, teacher, consultant or a Fellow who has significantly contributed to the development or ongoing development of paramedic practitioners, health or to the knowledge and benefit of society over a period of time.
